The 4 Tiers of Health (Most People Never Leave Tier 1)

Most people think health is about treating disease.

It's not.

We use a four tiered system, and the first tier is homeostasis.

That means getting all your lifestyle factors balanced.

Sleep, movement, exercise, stress, nutrition, relationships, purpose.

You can have six of those seven dialed in, but if one is off, you're not in homeostasis.

You're in an unbalanced state.

This applies to people with MS or high blood pressure, but it also applies to people without any diagnosed disease.

If you're not optimizing your lifestyle, you're unbalanced.

The Greeks understood this thousands of years ago.

They called it dietetica, which wasn't just about food.

It was about man's way of living.

How much you sleep, how you move, your work, your family life, what you eat.

All of it.

Once you reach homeostasis, the next step is optimization.

This is where epigenetics comes in.

How do we turn on beneficial gene expressions and turn off harmful ones through lifestyle?

That's the optimized state.

Most people never get past the unbalanced state because they think they're fine as long as they don't have a disease.

But homeostasis comes first, and optimization comes after.
